NREPSM Announces Registered Environmental Manager Certification Online Workshop

The National Registry of Environmental Professionals® is hosting a 5-week online workshop for candidates wanting to prepare for the Registered Environmental Manager® Certification Examination. The 5-week workshop will be held once a week every Thursday from 1pm – 4pm CST followed by the computerized examination in a testing center. This certification is intended for professionals in the environmental health and safety sector who wish to receive certification by the NREPSM, one of the most widely recognized and respected industry leaders for over 30 years.

What Topics Are Covered In the REM® Workshop?

The REM® workshop takes place online and serves as a review of materials covered in the exam to become a certified environmental professional. Covered topics include:

  • Clean Water Act (CWA)
  • Clear Air Act (CAA)
  • Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA)
  • Sustainability and Pollution Prevention
  • Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)

Additionally, NREPSM strongly recommends that attendees purchase and review the REM® Printed Study Guide, which is not included in the tuition cost. Study Guides should be purchased at least 3 weeks in advanced to ensure adequate time for review.

Why You Should Pursue REM® Certification

A Registered Environmental Manager Certification (REM®) is the highest professional certification offered by the NREPSM and identifies professionals as being capable of managing major environmental health and safety projects and programs, including:

  • environmental auditing
  • hazardous materials management and transportation
  • environmental real estate assessment, and more.

A nationally recognized credential, the Registered Environmental Manager® certification has been acknowledged by institutions and agencies such as the U.S. Postal Service, National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service; Resolution Trust Corporation, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Department of Energy, Amtrak, State of Alabama, and more.

Requirements for REM® Certification

In order to attend the workshop and receive certification, professionals must have a bachelor's degree in an environmentally related discipline and a minimum of five years of direct work experience in the fields of environmental engineering, health, science, or management. (Professionals may substitute three years of approved work experience for one year of academic education.) Degrees in the physical, biological, and health sciences, engineering and environmental majors, and other related fields of study are appropriate for certification.

Cost and How to Register

Professionals with the required degree and experience are eligible to sign up for the online workshop. The application fee for the REM® online Workshop is $150.00, and the workshop fee is $595.00. Applicants may purchase a printed or electronic copy of the recommended study materials for $300.00 or both for $350.00. An exam retake will cost $100.00.
